The Arizona Worm Farm is an innovative urban farm dedicated to sustainability and transforming waste into resources. Specializing in worms and their byproducts, the farm is particularly known for cultivating the Red Wiggler worm, prized for its composting abilities. These worms are integral to the farm’s operation, contributing to their home worm composting initiatives. The farm’s primary product, vermicompost or worm castings, is a high-quality soil enhancer produced as the worms process compost material. Utilizing a unique “wedge” system, approximately 10,000 worms are fed layers of compost weekly. As they consume the compost, they migrate through the wedge, leaving behind nutrient-rich castings. These castings are then harvested and sold, showcasing the farm’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and soil improvement.
