With state-of-the-art audio and video technologies, visitors will be able to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts-performances! The Musical Instrument Museum presents a wide variety of concerts in a comfortable acoustical 300-seat theater. Each year, over 200 artists appear including those who have rarely been seen in Phoenix!
At the Musical Instrument Museum, you can trouble the world through music! The collection in Geographic Galleries focus on five major world regions: The Africa and Middle East Gallery displays instruments and artifacts from sub-Saharan, North African, and Middle Eastern nations; The Asia and Oceania Gallery features instrument from countries and island groups; at The Europe Gallery you will find instruments ranging from antique charter horn and a foot-operated drum kit to a child’s vessel flute; The Latin America Galley features instruments and ensembles displayed in three different sub-galleries: South America, Central America and Mexico, and the Caribbean; at The United States and Canada Gallery you will see the diverse array of instruments that shaped the North American musical scene, such as the electric guitar and ukelele! Special exhibits focus on iconic American musical-instrument manufacturers such as Martin and Steinway.
